Trying.

My mom came home with a whole stack of papers full of Buddhist incantations.
I was wondering why she was so earnest in copying the incantations all of a sudden and she filled me in with the details.

So there was this Malaysian guy, convicted of drug smuggling at Singapore 3 years ago when he was 18.
He would be facing death penalty this year, most probably next month, and he had regretted for his foolishness.
He wrote a letter, expressing his utter remorse and his will to change into a better person, if only a second chance was to be given. And somehow, this letter got the attention of the Buddhist Association in Singapore and Malaysia, stirring the humane nature of compassionateness to give this 21-year-old guy a second chance.

Buddhist Associations around the country had started this incantations-copying campaign a few days ago.
We hope that with the social solidarity, we may be able to at least, save him from the execution, sparing his life.
Of course, no one can be sure if our effort will work. We are trying our best to gather as much copies of written incantations as we can, praying that the Singapore government will reconsider.

I personally feel towards this guy who is just around my brother's age. He committed the felony when he was just 18, lured by drug dealers with promises of fame. Totally blinded, he took the wrong step and got caught.
He definitely deserved to be punished for his criminal offense/imbecility.
That, I have no question about.
Just perhaps, let us think of it, is it impossible for us to spare him his life since he has regretted and is willing to make amends for his mistake?

Newspaper article regarding the issue.

He's just 21 this year. And he'll probably face death penalty soon. :(

There is nothing much else we can do.
Just copy the incantations as much as we can.
It is always better to try our best than do nothing. It's a matter of life and death.

Hope that our effort will be able to change his fate!
