Fire Lecture. :)

All the international students staying in the dormitory were asked to gather at the groud floor this afternoon for a lecture on the important safety measures needed to be taken during a fire.

There were some officers from the safety department of our conservatory coming over to demonstrate. :)
Together with them were some fire extinguishers and the fire mattresses. These were to be added up in our rooms afterwards.

I found the steps extremely useful so I took pictures to share with you guys as well! ^^

The man in white shirt is the leader of the safety department. He showed us how to use the fire extinguisher correctly. The one he used to demonstrate has carbon dioxide in it btw. There are a lot of different types of extinguishers so check before you use.
So here is the right way:
You need to pull out the metal key-shaped thing, and focus the extinguisher on the fire... and press the handle! :D

Reminder: DO NOT SAVE THE GAS. PRESS IT HARD AND DON'T RELEASE UNTIL THERE ISN'T ANY GAS LEFT.

The officer asked for volunteers and Hirai was the first. XD Everyone applauded after he made a successful demonstration. Lol!

Xing Xing was the 2nd volunteer! :DDD She did a great job! ^^ Btw the extinguisher gave out such noise I had to close my ears with my palms. =.='''

The next one! The fire mattress! It isn't flammable, so it's very useful to cover yourself during escape. You can cover up the fire source too, either to extinguish it, or if the fire is too big, at least it can delay the spreading of the fire while you have time to run and get the fire extinguisher!

It is this big after you spread it out. :)

You can cover yourself up like this. Note that you have to cover your head as well, or else your hair will be all on fire even if you manage to escape! LOL!

Besides, it will be better if you cover your face with a wet towel to prevent getting burnt.

He showed us how to cover up the fire, but REMEMBER better don't try to press down on the fire using your own hands just in case you get burnt. You can use your shoes to stamp on it or if the fire is too big, go get a fire extinguisher instead. :D

And here's the rope! OMG SCARY.. T.T These ropes are prepared for the students staying at the 3rd floor or above, just in case the front gate was blocked by fire, we'll have to escape through the window. O.o!!!

Tie an end of the rope to any big thing such as bed pillar, post or anything heavier than yourself la. LOL.
Then tie yourself using the other end of the rope. Tadaa~ Slowly lower yourself down afterwards.

I must say this step is pretty scary. x.x

The very lively officer. Haha.

I was asked to demonstrate for the fire mattress and tried out the fire extinguisher too. XDD The officer kept on calling me out to demonstrate. T.T He thought that I was a Japanese. XD Lol. Do I look like one?

Anyway I really enjoyed the lecture, and I learnt a lot! I hope you guys feel the same too! :)

Had a sumptuous dinner at a Hong Kong restaurant! Credits to Kate and Paulina for bringing us there! A major find. Perfecto! :D

The food I ordered: BBQ pork rice! :D
You know the most ridiculous thing? The waitress actually told us not to take pictures of the food. What is that? I mean, come on, we pay for it, and we gonna eat it down. Plus there is no recipe written on the food, what's wrong with taking pictures of them? Duh~

Lol.. Everyone felt indignant and ignored her. Teehee! Anyway I was too busy eating so just got this picture laaaaa. :) Will take more next time! Lalala~~~

:D Renovate renovate renovate! :D
