Amateurs in Baking! :D

Tar’s birthday was on 7th January, but he had to go to NingBo on that day, so we postponed the birthday celebration to 9th January! :)

It was like a week ago, when I asked Jiun Hui what present should we buy for him, and she suggested us to bake a cake for him! :D It sounded like a great idea coz it would be meaningful and at the same time we could learn how to bake! :DDD

Hui Ling said she wanted to join as well! :) So the 3 of us went to Patisserie the DIY Cake Shop around 1pm on 9th January 2011! :D

There were already a lot of ppl there, and the fragrance of the freshly baked cookies was overwhelming! We couldn’t wait to start! :) The teacher asked us to go wash our hands thoroughly with soup and then wear the Hello Kitty apron! :)

We chose to make the Strawberry Custard Cake which looked awfully pretty and yummy!

The class started. We were measuring the correct amount of milk! :)

Took picture of the cake in making right beside us. Cute right? It was made by a pair of loving couple who was planning their 1-yr-old daughter’s birthday!

The wife kept on chiding her husband not to add irrelevant things onto the cake, and the husband kept on putting more and more stuff onto it! It was soooo funny! XD In this pic, the wife was trying to “repair” the nose which was pretty much “destroyed” by the husband. XD Looked at his satisfied face. XD

Jiun Hui stirring the custard! We took turns stirring it, it was a tiring process, we need to keep stirring it until it cooled down! O.o!!! So our conclusion after learning how to bake:

Baking is ALL ABOUT STIRRING! :D

Here’s the whipped cream I “stirred”. XD

The custard was then put into the fridge and we had to wait for about 2 hours. Jiun Hui and I decided to make some cookies while waiting. Cookies baking charged RMB 70 for 2 persons! Not very expensive. :)))

Credits to Hui Ling for pictures!
